Ken Berryman, Symantec's Vice President of Endpoint Virtualization, will be presenting at SYS-CON's 5th International Virtualization Conference & Expo being held in New York City this coming March 30-April 1, 2009. Berryman, who is responsible for driving Symantec’s overall endpoint virtualization business, will be giving delegates his perspective on how virtualization can improve management, increase security, and deliver greater performance and flexibility.
"Application virtualization technology is changing the way software is managed, delivered, and consumed at the endpoint," Berryman notes.
"Indeed, bringing virtualization to the endpoint offers IT a natural migration path toward a more fluid computing environment — one that effectively balances the often conflicting trade-offs between security and flexibility," he continues.
In this session delegates will not only gain perspective on how virtualization can improve management, increase security, and deliver greater performance and flexibility. Berryman will also review how separation of user data from applications can give IT greater control over protecting information assets. And he will show how how on-demand streaming of applications in virtual layers can provide additional benefits by eliminating conflicts between applications.
Speaker Bio: Ken Berryman is responsible for driving Symantec’s overall endpoint virtualization business, including application and desktop virtualization solutions and the Software Virtualization Solution product line. Berryman most recently led product development for the NetBackup Product Platform and was responsible for the NetBackup, PureDisk, and Backup Reporter product lines. He has spoken previously at VMworld 2008 and SYS-CON's 4th Virtualization Conference in November 2008.

5th International Virtualization Conference & Expo - New York City - March 30-April 1, 2009
Virtualization is reorganizing the IT industry. It underpins cloud computing by making it possible to separate the software from the hardware.Overall, the virtualization market has grown from approximately $560 million in 2005 to a forecasted $2.7 billion in 2009, according to IDC. According to Gartner, virtualization will be the highest-impact IT trend changing infrastructure and operations through 2012.
While data center virtualization is still the #1 market segment, it’s starting to get competition from application virtualization, storage virtualization, I/O virtualization and virtualization for end users - so called endpoint virtualization. In fact, in almost any credible survey of Top Technology Trends for 2009, Virtualization and Cloud Computing top the list. In Gartner's Top 10 Strategic Technologies for 2009, it ranked #1, up from #5 last year.
